Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 334 AM EDT Sun Oct 26 2014 Valid 12Z Sun Oct 26 2014 - 12Z Tue Oct 28 2014 ***Unsettled weather continues for the Pacific Northwest*** ***Very warm temperatures over the central U.S.*** ***Relatively quiet weather pattern elsewhere*** The Pacific Northwest should expect multiple rounds of precipitation over the next few days as onshore flow and a strong Pacific storm system moves near the region early next week. The sub-990mb low is expected to track towards British Columbia by Tuesday morning and bring a cold front towards the coast, along with steady precipitation. The current frontal system over the Intermountain West will continue to bring rain and mountain snow showers through Sunday night, along with some gusty winds. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., a pronounced upper level ridge ahead of the Pacific storm system will allow for well-above average temperatures across much of the Plains and Deep South through Monday. Widespread highs in the 80s are likely, with a few locations in Texas and Oklahoma reaching 90 degrees on Sunday, which could easily set some record highs. Dry weather is expected through Monday afternoon, after which point some showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the Midwest states ahead of the cold front. Over the East Coast, very pleasant conditions can be expected through the early part of the week as surface high pressure governs the weather pattern and brings sunny to partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures. The exception will be northern New England where some scattered showers will be possible from time to time as an upper level trough pivots through the region.
