Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 320 PM EST Mon Nov 03 2014 Valid 00Z Tue Nov 04 2014 - 00Z Thu Nov 06 2014 ...Heavy rains possible across portions of the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley... ...Heavy rains possible across portions of the Pacific Northwest... A slow moving cold front will bring heavy rain to much of the Southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley. Showers will increase in coverage across the Southern Plains through the evening today as the upper level jet strengthens overhead. Low level southerly flow drawing anomalous moisture into the region will become southwesterly and nearly parallel to the front allowing the moisture to pool along the front. This should allow the shield of heavy precipitation to extend further northeastward into the Mid Mississippi Valley. The front will the sag southward and push the heavy precipitation into southern Texas and the Lower Mississippi Valley by the end of the period. In the Northwest, a front coming ashore will transport pacific moisture into the region leading to heavy rain. With the low pressure center tracking well north into British Columbia, warm advection into the area will keep the precipitation as rain except for possible the highest peaks. A clipper system dropping out of Alberta will bring some light rain and snow to the Northern Plains Wednesday evening. Krekeler Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
