A quasi-stationary front extending from the Northern Appalachians to the Western Gulf Coast will gradually move eastward to the Southeast Coast by Thursday evening. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will pool along the boundary producing moderate to heavy rain over parts of the Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley that will retreat to the Texas Coast by Thursday. Rain will also develop along the front from the Tennessee Valley to parts of the Ohio Valley that will move eastward to parts of the Central Appalachians/Tennessee Valley by Wednesday evening. Low pressure and associated reinforcing cold front over the Northern Plains will move to the Great Lakes and merge with the quasi-stationary front over the East by Thursday. The area of low pressure will then move to the Mid-Atlantic Coast by Thursday evening. The energy associated with the system will produce light snow over parts of the Northern Rockies on Wednesday morning. An area of rain with snow on the northwest side will develop over the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley will move into the Great Lakes by Thursday morning. Areas of light to moderate rain will develop over parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley/Central Appalachians also on Thursday morning. The system will get an influx of moisture from the Atlantic on Thursday that will aid in producing moderate to heavy rain over parts of Northern New England by Thursday evening. Elsewhere, a plume of moisture along the Northwest Coast will aid in producing rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest by Wednesday evening. An approaching Pacific storm will move onshore over the Northwest on Thursday. The system will produce light rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest that will move inland to parts of the Northern Rockies by Thursday evening.
