Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 230 AM EST Mon Nov 24 2014 Valid 12Z Mon Nov 24 2014 - 12Z Wed Nov 26 2014 ***Active weather pattern for the eastern U.S.*** ***Warm day on Monday for the East Coast states*** ***Snow showers for the Rockies and Cascades*** An active weather pattern is in place across the central and eastern U.S. for the beginning of the week. A deepening surface low will continue lifting northeastward into southern Canada by Monday afternoon. Another surge of cold air behind the main surface low is expected to reinforce the cold airmass behind the departing low pressure system over the northern Plains and Upper Midwest. In terms of sensible weather impacts, widespread rain is expected for the Northeast U.S. early on Monday, and another area of steady rain for the upper Great Lakes. Snow is likely on the northwest side of the system over eastern Minnesota and into Wisconsin. Snow showers are expected for the central and northern Rockies through Tuesday with some upslope flow and a frontal boundary in place. Across the eastern U.S., temperatures will be quite warm by November standards on Monday with highs well into the 60s and 70s before the cold front moves through Monday night. Much colder weather arrives by the middle of the week with widespread 30s and 40s for highs expected. Another round of precipitation is expected by late Tuesday and early Wednesday for the southeast U.S. and Mid-Atlantic as a wave of low pressure develops along the front over the northern Gulf of Mexico.
