A strong cold front extending from the Lower Great Lakes to the Southern Plains will move eastward off the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast and southward to the Western Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday morning while lingering over parts of the Southeast. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will pool along and overrun the boundary producing rain from the Lower Great Lakes/Northeast to the Middle Mississippi Valley that will expand southward into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley/Southern Plains through late Monday night. Pockets of rain/freezing rain may develop over parts of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas on Monday morning into afternoon. Rain will end over the Northeast/Lower Great Lakes by Monday evening while expanding into parts of the Mid-Atlantic. In addition, rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Central Appalachians on Tuesday morning, with light to moderate rain developing over parts of the Mid-Atlantic. Meanwhile, the western edge of the front will wiggle northward from the Great Basin to the Northern Intermountain Region/Northern High Plains by Tuesday. Areas of snow will develop over parts of the Great Basin into the Central High Plains that will lift northward to the Northern Intermountain Region/Northern Plains by Tuesday. Rain will develop over parts of Northern/Central California expanding into parts of the Pacific Northwest Monday evening into Tuesday. Light to moderate rain will develop along the California Coast and into parts of the Pacific Northwest by Tuesday morning.
