Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 228 AM EST Tue Jan 06 2015 Valid 12Z Tue Jan 06 2015 - 12Z Thu Jan 08 2015 ...Lake effect snow for the Great Lakes... ...Snow for the Northern High Plains... ...Temperatures will be 20 to 30 degrees below average over the Plains and Mississippi Valley on Wednesday... Clipper system over the Ohio Valley will move off the Mid-Atlantic Coast by Tuesday evening. The system will produce snow over the Northern Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday morning that will move off the Northeast Coast by Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, cold air moving over the Great Lakes with upper-level energy moving over the area will produce lake effect snow downwind from the Great Lakes through Wednesday evening. Cold high pressure over West-Central Canada will move southeastward to the Central Plains by Wednesday evening. Circulation around the high will produce upslope flow which in turn will aid in the development of snow over the Northern High Plains through late Tuesday night. Similarly easterly flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will produce scattered light rain over the Southern tip of Texas by Wednesday evening.
