A series of upper level disturbances, along with plenty of moisture from an atmospheric river, will yield to heavy rainfall and high elevation snow across the Pacific Northwest. There will be a slight lull in precipitation on Thursday night; most of the heavier rainfall will be confined to northern California and southern Oregon. By Friday, an increase of coverage across the Pacific Northwest and the northern Rockies can be expected. This intermittent activity of heavier rainfall and lighter showers will continue through Saturday. The northern Plains and Upper Midwest can expect a wintry mix beginning Friday and lasting through Saturday. Upper level disturbances will create a northwest-southeast oriented line of light snow showers across North Dakota, northern Minnesota, and the Great Lakes.
