Snow and ice will continue to develop ahead of a surface low and cold front pushing out of the northern and central Plains on Tuesday. A wide swath of light to moderate snowfall accumulations is expected across Minnesota and the Great Lakes...while a narrow zone of sleet and freezing rain will be possible just to the south of the snow. Behind the front...conditions will turn bitter and blustery as a strong surface high nosing down from Canada brings gusty winds and plunging temperatures into the north central U.S.. Rain...snow...and ice across the Mid-Atlantic states early Tuesday should begin to edge offshore as the front that dropped through the region on Monday pushes farther out to sea. Any lingering snow over New England will also diminish on Tuesday. Shower activity will continue to taper off out West as an upper trough slides east and ridging builds in aloft; However...a piece of energy amplifying while dropping into the Four Corners region will help trigger some light to moderate snow over the Colorado Rockies Tuesday into Wednesday.
