Cold high pressure over the Ohio Valley to the Southern Plains will move eastward off the East Coast by Tuesday evening. Upper-level jet energy will aid in producing a small area of snow over parts of the Southern Plains that will move to the Southern Appalachians by Tuesday morning. A broader region of rain/freezing rain and sleet will develop over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley that will move into parts of the Tennessee Valley by Tuesday morning while waning. A small area of rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of North Carolina, inland from the coast by Tuesday evening. Rain will also develop over parts of the Western Gulf Coast and the Lower Mississippi Valley by Monday evening that will expand eastward along the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast by Tuesday morning. The rain will taper off to the Gulf and Southeast Coast by Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, an upper-level closed low over Southern California will slowly move eastward to the Southern Plains by Wednesday morning. The energy will produce snow and lower elevation rain over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies and the Southwest through Tuesday evening. Lower elevation rain and snow will also develop over parts of Southern/Central California on Monday evening, ending later Monday night. As the energy moves out onto the Plains, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will overrun the cold air over the interior portions of the Lower Mississippi/Tennessee Valleys and Southern Plains producing a narrow ribbon of snow and a band of rain/freezing rain by Wednesday morning. Light to moderate rain will develop over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Southeast also by Wednesday morning. In addition, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Western Gulf Coast by Wednesday. A front over Central Canada will move southeastward to the Lower Great Lakes to the Middle Mississippi Valley then extending northwestward to the Northern High Plains by Wednesday. Light snow will develop over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley that will move into the Great Lakes on Tuesday and into the Northern Appalachians by Wednesday morning. Upper-level energy will move over parts of the Northern Rockies by Wednesday. The energy and upslope flow associated with high pressure over Canada will aid in producing snow over parts of the Northern/Central Rockies into the Northern Plains/Middle Missouri Valley Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
