Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 310 AM EST Thu Feb 26 2015 Valid 12Z Thu Feb 26 2015 - 12Z Sat Feb 28 2015 ...Heavy snow possible for parts of the Central/Southern Rockies... ...Temperatures will be 15 to 30 degrees below average from east of the Rockies to the East Coast... Low pressure just off the Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast will continue to move northeastward out over the Atlantic. The system will produce light snow over parts of the Mid-Atlantic and moderate snow over parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic Coast on Thursday morning. Rain will also develop over parts of the Southeast Coast with showers and thunderstorms developing over parts of Florida also by Thursday morning. The precipitation will move off most of the Eastern Sea Board by Thursday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will remain over the Southern tip of Florida through Friday morning. In addition, upper-level energy over parts of the Middle Missouri Valley will aid in producing an area of light snow over parts of the Western Ohio Valley/Great Lakes that will move to the Central/Northern Appalachians by Thursday evening. Meanwhile, cold high pressure over the West-Central border with Canada will move southeastward to the Western Ohio Valley by Friday evening. Upper-level energy moving southeastward over the Rockies will along with upslope flow associated with the circulation around the high will produce snow over parts of the Central/Southern Rockies through Friday evening. Additionally, upper-level energy over the Northern Pacific will move southward along the West Coast to Northern California by Friday evening. Weak onshore flow will accompany the energy. Light rain will develop over parts of the Pacific Northwest with snow at the higher elevations over parts of the Pacific Northwest and the Northern Intermountain Region through Friday. The rain will move into parts of Northern California by Friday morning. Snow will expand into parts of the Great Basin and the higher elevations of California by Friday evening.
