Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 351 PM EST Fri Mar 06 2015 Valid 00Z Sat Mar 07 2015 - 00Z Mon Mar 09 2015 ...More tranquil weather across much of the Country during the weekend with milder temperatures in the East... Following the departure of a widespread winter storm across a large portion of the Country earlier this week, more tranquil weather can be expected as we head into the weekend. A cold high pressure system that has already settled across the eastern U.S. and well down into the South and much of Florida will gradually be moderated by the March sun. Temperatures are expected to increase each day through the weekend and should get closer to normal by Monday. Little or no precipitation is expected through the weekend in the eastern U.S. Only scattered light snow or snow showers are expected to move across the Great Lakes into New England as a relatively weak area of low pressure moves into the area. Elsewhere, some scattered showers or thunderstorms are expected in southern Florida behind the tail end of a cold front. Over Texas, moisture coming up from Mexico ahead of an approaching upper-level trough will increase the chance of light rain on Sunday. Some light freezing rain could begin to form in the northern Plains and spread eastward towards the Upper Midwest on Sunday as well. Under the control of a strong upper ridge, the West will enjoy fine and mild weather with little or no chance of precipitation through the weekend.
