Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 442 AM EDT Sun Mar 08 2015 Valid 12Z Sun Mar 08 2015 - 12Z Tue Mar 10 2015 ...Heavy rains developing along the western Gulf coast and across eastern Texas... Conditions will become increasingly unsettled across the south central U.S. early this week as an upper trough swings through northern Mexico and lifts into the southern Plains. Low level southerly flow ahead of the trough will draw up an abundance of Gulf moisture...which will fuel a wide axis of heavy rains along the western Gulf coast and across eastern Texas. Flash flooding and a few thunderstorms will be possible across the region...and as the upper trough edges eastward Monday and Tuesday...precipitation will spread into the Lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys. Weather across the rest of the Nation should stay relatively quiet the next few days. The warming trend will continue across the eastern half of the Nation...with temperatures approaching or even exceeding seasonal averages. A few weak disturbances streaking through the northern tier could trigger snow showers across the Great Lakes and interior New England...but the quick progression and limited moisture should keep precipitation light. An upper ridge parked over the West will keep locations from the Rockies to the Pacific Coast dry and warm through Tuesday. Gerhardt Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
