Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 449 PM EDT Mon Mar 9 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Mar 10 2015 - 00Z Thu Mar 12 2015 ***Heavy rain from eastern Texas to the Southeast U.S.*** ***Relatively quiet weather pattern elsewhere*** The big weather maker across the country through the early and middle part of the week will be a surface low and frontal boundary over the Gulf Coast region. Although the low is not expected to be strong, there will be quite a bit of moisture-laden inflow from the Gulf of Mexico that will surge northward over Texas and eastward across the Deep South. It appears the heaviest rainfall is likely over eastern Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana through Tuesday, and localized flooding is a possibility where heavy downpours persist. Some of this moisture will reach the Carolinas and Virginia, albeit lighter in intensity. Elsewhere, the rest of the U.S. should remain relatively quiet through Wednesday. Pleasant temperatures will continue to be enjoyed by many, thanks to the recent weather pattern change. Snow showers will be possible with a couple of weak upper level disturbances moving across New England and the Great Lakes early this week. An upper ridge out West will keep conditions warm and dry through early Tuesday, before an approaching Pacific front introduces rain and snow chances back into the forecast for the Pacific Northwest and northern California.
