Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 426 PM EDT Fri Mar 27 2015 Valid 00Z Sat Mar 28 2015 - 00Z Mon Mar 30 2015 ***Ridge across the West and trough across the East*** ***Below normal temperatures east of the Rockies*** ***Relatively quiet in terms of precipitation nation-wide* The upper level atmospheric pattern over the next few days will be featured with a ridge over the western U.S., and an abnormally deep trough over the eastern U.S. At the surface, this will result in below normal temperatures for this time of the year from the Great Plains eastward to the East Coast. Highs on Saturday will not get out of the 40s for many areas, making it feel more like February instead of late March. The front that brought the widespread rain to the East Coast states is now moving offshore. However, there will still be a few lingering rain and snow showers from the Great Lakes to the Northeast U.S., with light snow accumulations possible over the higher elevations. Out West, some rain and high mountain snow is likely over parts of the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies as a frontal boundary moves across the region. Dry conditions are expected elsewhere, with the drought conditions continuing unabated. D. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
