Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 453 PM EDT Sat Mar 28 2015 Valid 00Z Sun Mar 29 2015 - 00Z Tue Mar 31 2015 ***Ridge across the West and trough across the East*** ***Below normal temperatures east of the Rockies*** ***Relatively quiet in terms of precipitation nation-wide* The upper level atmospheric pattern over the next couple of days will be featured with a ridge over the western U.S., and an abnormally deep trough over the eastern U.S. At the surface, this will result in below normal temperatures for this time of the year from the Great Plains eastward to the East Coast. Highs on Sunday will not get out of the 40s and 50s for many areas, but warmer weather is expected to arrive in time for the beginning of the week. Out West, some rain and high mountain snow is likely over parts of the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies as a frontal boundary moves across the region. Dry conditions are expected elsewhere across the western U.S., with the drought conditions continuing unabated. A cold front crossing the central U.S. on Sunday will bring a round of showers from Arkansas to the Ohio Valley, and some wintry precipitation across the northern Great Lakes. The majority of the snow with this system is expected to remain north of the border in Canada. D. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
