Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 409 AM EDT Sat Apr 11 2015 Valid 12Z Sat Apr 11 2015 - 12Z Mon Apr 13 2015 ***Quieter weather pattern developing over the Eastern U.S.*** ***Showers and thunderstorms continue over the Gulf Coast region*** ***Rain and snow showers for the northwestern U.S.*** The cold front that brought all of the stormy weather to the eastern U.S. late this week has now moved offshore. Behind it, much quieter conditions can be expected in time for the weekend as a ridge of high pressure settles in. Seasonal temperatures along with mostly sunny skies and lower humidity will be widespread from the Mississippi River to the East Coast. Across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West, a cold front moving inland will bring additional rounds of valley rain and mountain snow from western Washington to the northern Rockies. The greatest precipitation is likely to occur over the Cascades and coastal ranges, and also over Idaho and western Montana. California and the Four-Corners region are expected to remain mostly dry through the weekend, with no drought relief expected. Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity is forecast to develop over Texas by Saturday and into Sunday as moisture from the western Gulf of Mexico makes a return to that area. Additional showers and storms are likely across the central Gulf Coast and into Florida. Some organized clusters of thunderstorms are likely to materialize, which will be capable of producing heavy rainfall. D. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
