A cold pool of air aloft is expected to move south-southeast and congeal across the Carolinas by Friday morning. This action aloft will herd a surface low from the northern Gulf of Mexico east and east-northeastward across Florida offshore Georgia and the Carolinas between now and Friday. Bands of thunderstorms are expected across the Sunshine State/Florida into Wednesday evening near and ahead of the system's cold front. To the north of the warm front, a cool rain is slated to fall across the southern Appalachians and Carolinas within the system's comma head precipitation pattern, to the northwest of the main surface low. Elsewhere, skirmishes of showers and thunderstorms will be seen across the Pacific Northwest, northern Rockies, and eventually the northern Plains as a mid-level disturbance moves through the region. Amounts should remain relatively light. The Desert Southwest and southern Rockies should remain high and dry through the remainder of the work week, under the influence of strengthening ridging aloft.
