Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 420 PM EDT Mon May 11 2015 Valid 00Z Tue May 12 2015 - 00Z Thu May 14 2015 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley and the Lower Mississippi Valley/Western Gulf Coast... ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Southern Plains... A storm over the Upper-Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley will move roughly eastward into the Canadian Maritimes Wednesday. The associated front extends from the Great Lakes to the Southern Plains will move eastward to off most of the East Coast and along the Gulf Coast by Wednesday. The system will produce rain over parts of the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley that will lift northeastward into Canada and the Northeast by Tuesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Ohio Valley and Southern New England will move eastward to the Northeast by Tuesday morning. In addition, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley and continue over the Southern Plains through Wednesday. As the front moves eastward, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary over the Central Gulf Coast/Southeast into parts of the Southern Mid-Atlantic by Tuesday evening and off the coast by late Tuesday night. Meanwhile, a deep upper-level trough over the Pacific Northwest into California will spin over the region through Wednesday. The energy will produce rain over parts of the Northwest Coast through Wednesday morning. Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms along with nighttime and morning rain will develop inland over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region that will expand into parts of the Northern Plains by Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning. Additionally, upper-level energy rotating through the trough will produce afternoon/evening showers and thunderstorms and nighttime/morning rain over parts of the Central/Southern Rockies Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday. Rain will also develop over parts of the Central/Southern Plains by Wednesday morning. The remains of what was once Tropical Storm Ana will move from the Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast to Southern New England and become absorbed into a frontal zone by Tuesday morning. The system will produce shower and thunderstorms over parts of the Mid-Atlantic Coast that will move into Southern New England by Tuesday morning.
