Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 317 AM EDT Sat May 23 2015 Valid 12Z Sat May 23 2015 - 12Z Mon May 25 2015 ...Heavy rain possible for portions of the Southern/Central Plains and parts of the Central High Plains... ..There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for parts of the Southern/Central High Plains... A storm over the Southern High Plains will slowly move northward to the Central High Plains by Sunday evening. Moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will flow northward over the Plains on Saturday and into the Mississippi Valley by Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over the Southern Plains and expand northward into the Central/Northern Plains by Saturday evening. On Sunday the showers and thunderstorms will expand into parts of the Mississippi Valley. Rain will also develop over parts of the Northern Plains into the Upper Mississippi Valley by Sunday morning. By Sunday evening rain will develop over parts of the Great Lakes. In addition, the upper-level trough associated with the storm will aid in producing late night/morning rain with embedded thunderstorms over parts of the Northwest/Great Basin into the Northern/Central Rockies through Sunday. Additionally, afternoon and evening showers/thunderstorms will develop over a greater area of the Northwest/Great Basin into the Northern/Central Rockies and the Northern High Plains on Saturday and Sunday. Elsewhere, showers and thunderstorms will develop along parts of the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast through Sunday.
