A quasi-stationary front extends from the Great Lakes to the Central/Southern Plains through Tuesday. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will flow northward to the Great Lakes from the Lower Mississippi Valley and move eastward to the Eastern Gulf Coast to the Lower Great Lakes/Northeast by Tuesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over Southern/Central Plains and from the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley that will ebb and flow on Monday. On Tuesday the axis of showers and thunderstorms will extend from the Central Gulf Coast to parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes that will move eastward to the Eastern Gulf Coast to parts of the Great Lakes by Tuesday evening. In addition, rain will develop over the Northern Plains to parts of the Upper Great Lakes/Northeast on Monday. Additionally,rain will develop over parts of the Central Appalachians into the Northeast on Tuesday and move into parts of the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast by Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, an upper-level trough will continue over the Western portions of the U. S.. Day time heating will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern/Central Rockies into parts of the Great Basin with maximum areal coverage during the afternoon and evening hours and a minimum areal coverage during the late night/morning hours.
