Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 406 AM EDT Sat May 30 2015 Valid 12Z Sat May 30 2015 - 12Z Mon Jun 01 2015 ...Heavy rain and flash flooding possible along a slow-moving cold front this weekend.... A strong cold front dropping out of the Northern Plains will continue to press south and east today---producing periods of showers and thunderstorms for the Midwest and Ohio Valley. A very warm and unstable airmass across the South --- in place ahead of the cold front --- sets the stage for more locally heavy rainfall and the threat of flash flooding. Elsewhere, showers and thunderstorms will be on the increase across Florida as several weak easterly wave impulses move over the peninsula. A closed low over British Columbia will keep conditions favorable for scattered shower activity across the Northern Rockies on Saturday. A low pressure system off the coast of California is expected to bring some light rain, scattered showers and a few thunderstorms to the West Coast on Sunday night and Monday morning.
