Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 427 PM EDT Sat May 30 2015 Valid 00Z Sun May 31 2015 - 00Z Tue Jun 2 2015 ***Rain and thunderstorms from Ohio Valley to Northeast U.S.*** ***Pristine airmass over the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes*** ***Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the western U.S.*** There will be a dichotomy of air masses over the eastern U.S. through Monday, with summer-like conditions from the Mid-Atlantic to the Deep South, and fall-like weather from the Upper Midwest to New England courtesy of a pristine airmass near the Canadian border. A rather strong cold front will separate these two airmasses, and a band of moderate to occasionally heavy rain is likely just north of the boundary from the Ohio Valley to the interior Northeast U.S. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected south of the boundary across much of the East Coast through Monday. Elsewhere, a closed low over British Columbia will keep conditions favorable for scattered shower activity across the Northern Rockies on Saturday night. A low pressure system off the coast of California is expected to bring some light rain and a few thundershowers to the Oregon and Washington coasts on Sunday night and Monday morning, and most of California is forecast to stay dry. Isolated showers and storms are also likely for the Rocky Mountains. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
