Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 425 PM EDT Sun May 31 2015 Valid 00Z Mon Jun 1 2015 - 00Z Wed Jun 3 2015 ***Rain and thunderstorms from Ohio Valley to Northeast U.S.*** ***Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the western U.S.*** An unsettled weather pattern is expected over the eastern third of the U.S. for the beginning of June. A stalling front over the Appalachians, along with a wave of low pressure crossing the northern Mid-Atlantic region, will be present. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop from the Gulf Coast to the Northeast U.S., and heavy rain and lightning will be the main problems from these storms. Farther to the north from the eastern Great Lakes to New England, periods of rain are likely north of the frontal boundary along with much cooler temperatures. Across the West, expect scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Rockies and the Northwest states through Monday. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to become better organized by Monday night and Tuesday, especially across the northern Rockies and over the Dakotas behind a strengthening area of low pressure.
