Showers and thunderstorms spreading across the northern Mid-Atlantic states and Northeast Tuesday morning should begin to diminish as the day progresses. The northern portion of a stalled frontal boundary is expected to begin moving further off of the New England coast as high pressure begins to settle in over the Northeast. However, plenty of clouds are expected to remain across the area and daytime temperatures across portions of upstate New York and northern New England will remain as much as 15 to 20 degrees below their normal highs. Across the southern Mid-Atlantic states and the Southeast, showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through Wednesday as the southern portion of the front remains stalled across the region. Moist southerly winds ahead of the front will continue to support widespread moderate to heavy rains across the region. Further west, showers and thunderstorms should continue to develop and spread east along a well-defined cold front dropping south into the northern Rockies-Great Plains on Tuesday. By late Tuesday into early Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms can also be expected further to the south across the mid Missouri-Mississippi valleys. Across much of California into the Great Basin, dry conditions can be expected, with seasonal to below average temperatures. Pereira Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
