Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 354 AM EDT Fri Jun 5 2015 Valid 12Z Fri Jun 5 2015 - 12Z Sun Jun 7 2015 ***Weather begins to improve for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast*** ***Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the western U.S.*** The upper level low and stationary front near the Mid-Atlantic coast are forecast to move offshore by Friday evening and allow for improving weather in time for the weekend. On Saturday, a cold front dropping southward across much of the eastern U.S. will allow a quality airmass from Canada to build in from the Great Lakes to the Mid-Atlantic with pleasant temperatures and lower humidity. Over the nation's mid-section, a developing surface low over the northern Plains is forecast to track eastward towards the upper Great Lakes by Sunday morning. Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected to develop in the vicinity of this feature, and severe weather is a possibility from eastern Colorado to the Upper Midwest. For the western third of the country, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop in response to upslope flow and diurnal heating through Saturday as an upper level trough remains over the region. An upper level low near California will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the state and extending into Nevada, providing short-term drought relief to some areas, while the coast remains dry.
