Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 357 PM EDT Fri Jun 05 2015 Valid 00Z Sat Jun 06 2015 - 00Z Mon Jun 08 2015 ***Heavy rainfall and severe weather possible across the north central U.S.*** ***Near record heat expected across portions of the Pacific Northwest*** A warm and moist airmass surging northward across the northern plains will support heavy rainfall across the region into the weekend. Mid and upper level forcing, combined with the low level moisture, could lead to severe weather across portions of the central and northern plains. With much above normal moisture in place, localized heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding. The threat of heavy rainfall will shift toward the Great Lakes by the end of the period. High pressure building in the Eastern Pacific will lead to a period of hot and dry weather. Near record temperatures are expected across interior portions of the Pacific Northwest for Sunday and Monday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected across Florida through Sunday. More organized convection is expected across southern Florida associated with a trough south of the region. An upper level trough over the southwestern U.S. will spark showers and thunderstorms across much of the Great Basin and central/southern Rockies through Sunday. The upper level trough will weaken toward the end of the period and precipitation will wane across the region. Krekeler Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
