Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 427 AM EDT Sun Jun 7 2015 Valid 12Z Sun Jun 7 2015 - 12Z Tue Jun 9 2015 ***Showers and storms from the Upper Midwest to Appalachians*** ***Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the western U.S.*** ***Hot weather returning to much of the nation*** Active weather is expected from the Upper Midwest to the East Coast through Monday as a surface low crosses over the Great Lakes and brings a weak cold front towards the Ohio Valley. Mid and upper level forcing, combined with abundant low level moisture, will be enough to generate scattered to numerous showers and storms, some of which may be severe at times. It will also turn hotter for much of the East Coast states for the beginning of the work week. For the western third of the country, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely during the afternoon and evening hours in response to daytime heating and moisture flowing northward from Mexico. The amount of coverage should be less by Monday as the upper level trough is less dominant by then. Hot weather is also expected for interior portions of California, Oregon, and Washington state through Monday. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
