Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 339 AM EDT Mon Jun 8 2015 Valid 12Z Mon Jun 8 2015 - 12Z Wed Jun 10 2015 ***Showers and thunderstorms from the Ohio Valley to East coast*** ***Heat and humidity for much of the southern and eastern U.S.*** ***Return to more seasonal temperatures for the Pacific Northwest*** The area of the country with the most shower and thunderstorm activity over the next couple of days will be from the Ohio Valley to the East Coast. A surge of moisture and warmer temperatures ahead of a weak cold front moving southeastward from the Great Lakes on Monday will fuel widespread showers and storms, especially during the afternoon hours. Locally heavy rain and a few severe storms are likely for parts of the Ohio Valley and extending eastward to the Appalachians. Heat and humidity will make a return to the East Coast for the beginning of the week as a warm front lifts northward. For the western third of the country, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely during the afternoon and evening hours in response to daytime heating and moisture flowing northward from Mexico. The amount of coverage should be less than the past few days as the upper level trough becomes less dominant. Hot weather is also expected for interior portions of California, Oregon, and Washington state for Monday, followed by a return to more seasonal temperatures by midweek.
