Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 500 AM EDT Tue Jun 09 2015 Valid 12Z Tue Jun 09 2015 - 12Z Thu Jun 11 2015 ...A couple of cold fronts will bring showers and thunderstorms across the northern Plains eastward into the Northeast followed by cooler temperatures... ...Remnant moisture from former tropical cyclone Blanca is expected to bring cooler than normal temperatures and showers and thunderstorms into the central and southern Rockies... With an upper-level trough in place over the eastern U.S., a pair of cold fronts will bring showers and thunderstorms across the northern Plains, Midwest, the Great Lakes and into the Northeast in the next couple of days. Cooler air will filter in behind the cold fronts, and temperatures will drop below normal in the northern Plains. Some moisture from the Gulf will linger near the Gulf Coast while mainly dry and very warm weather should prevail from the mid-section of the country eastward in the Appalachians. Meanwhile, moisture associated with what was Tropical Storm Blanca is expected to spread northeastward form the Gulf of California into the Desert Southwest an into the southern and central Rockies by Wednesday where showers and thunderstorms could lead to areas of flash flooding. The rain and clouds are expected to keep temperatures cooler than normal in these areas. Meanwhile, the heat is expected to continue across the interior section of the Pacific Northwest.
