Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 426 AM EDT Wed Jun 17 2015 Valid 12Z Wed Jun 17 2015 - 12Z Fri Jun 19 2015 ...Tropical Depression Bill expected to bring very heavy rainfall and flash flooding to portions of the southern Plains to the Middle Mississippi Valley... ...Showers and thunderstorms possible from the Middle Mississippi Valley to the Mid-Atlantic... ...Severe thunderstorms possible across portions of the Ohio Valley to the Lower Great Lakes, as well as parts of the northern High Plains... Tropical Storm Bill weakened into a tropical depression overnight but will continue to bring very heavy rainfall with the potential for flash flooding through the next few days as it moves north and eastward through eastern Texas into eastern Oklahoma. Rainfall amounts between 4 and 8 inches is possible across portions of eastern Texas and eastern Oklahoma, with locally higher amounts up to 12 inches. By Thursday evening, moisture from Bill is expected to move into the Middle Mississippi Valley pulling the heavy rainfall and flash flood threat with it. Please refer to the forecast advisories for Bill for the latest information. A warm front lifting through the Ohio Valley and into the Lower Great Lakes should allow for the development of showers and thunderstorms across these regions as well as into the Mid-Atlantic states. Given the very moist and unstable air currently in place across the region, severe thunderstorms and flash flooding may be possible, especially in the vicinity of the warm front. Showers and thunderstorms are also expected across portions of the Upper Great Lakes in association with a surface low pressure area moving through. Elsewhere, a cold front dropping into the northern High Plains Wednesday is forecast to bring showers and thunderstorms to portions of the northern/central High Plains and northern Plains while an upper level system moving into the Pacific Northwest keeps the wet weather in the forecast on Thursday as well. A few of the storms may also be capable of producing severe weather, especially along eastern slopes of the Northern and Central Rockies as well as into the High Plains on both Wednesday and Thursday.
