Tropical Depression Bill is moving in a north-northeast direction tonight across eastern Oklahoma, but should make more of a northeast turn by Thursday as it tracks through the Middle Mississippi Valley. Bill will continue to spread very heavy rainfall and the threat for flash flooding across eastern Oklahoma today and into portions of the Middle Mississippi Valley by tonight. 4 to 8 inches of rain is expected from eastern Oklahoma to southern Missouri, with locally higher amounts possible. By Friday, moisture from Bill should begin interacting with a frontal boundary across the Ohio Valley. This is expected to result in the potential for widespread showers and thunderstorms, with severe weather and flash flooding remaining a threat in these areas. Please refer to the WPC Tropical Cyclone Advisories for the latest information on Bill. A frontal system moving across the Rockies and into the northern High Plains Thursday and Friday is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms to portions of the northern High Plains and northern Plains. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted an enhanced risk for severe weather across the northern Plains on Friday with a slight risk across the northern High Plains on Thursday. At the same time, a front pushing through the Northeast U.S. may bring showers and thunderstorms to parts of the northeast and New England Thursday into Friday morning, but conditions should dry out behind the front by Friday afternoon. With mid to upper level high pressure anchored in place, the western U.S. and the Southeast U.S. should expect the dry weather and above normal temperatures to continue. Temperatures could be as much as 5 to 15 degrees above normal out west, and 5 to 10 degrees above normal across the Southeast. Meanwhile, places from the Plains to the Ohio Valley and the Northeast could see below normal temperatures over the next few days.
