Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 455 PM EDT Mon Jun 22 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Jun 23 2015 - 00Z Thu Jun 25 2015 ***Stormy weather for Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Tuesday*** ***Continued hot and humid for the Deep South and Southeast*** ***Hot over the Desert Southwest through midweek*** A zonal flow pattern across most of the country through the middle of the week will allow for a rapid progression of storm systems from west to east. A couple of cold fronts accompanying shortwave disturbances aloft will have enough moisture and instability ahead of them to generate strong to severe thunderstorms. It will likely be a stormy afternoon on Tuesday for many areas from the Ohio Valley to the East Coast as a cold front approaches from the northwest. It will remain hot and humid across the southern tier of the country through midweek as upper level ridging holds strong and plenty of sun allows temperatures to rise well into the 90s and near 100 degrees each day, especially over the southeast U.S. It will also be quite hot across the Desert Southwest where excessive heat warnings are in effect for parts of southern California and Arizona, where highs could reach 110 degrees.
