Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 456 PM EDT Wed Jun 24 2015 Valid 00Z Thu Jun 25 2015 - 00Z Sat Jun 27 2015 ***Numerous showers and storms for the Midwest and Ohio Valley*** ***Building heat over interior areas of the West*** A wavy frontal boundary situated from the central Plains to the East Coast will be the focus of several rounds of bad weather as surface low pressure areas form along it. A complex of thunderstorms and heavy rain is expected to develop and track eastward from Iowa to the Ohio Valley tonight north of a surface low. Flash flooding is possible in some areas where convection becomes persistent. More showers and storms are in the forecast for the Mid-Atlantic region on Thursday, as well as parts of the central Plains. In the temperature department, expect temperatures to increase each day through the end of the week across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West. A building upper level ridge will result in increased subsidence and thus hot temperatures. Many areas will likely reach 100 degrees or greater by the end of the week for elevations under 4000 feet. Isolated thunderstorms may also develop over the western U.S. and produce dry lightning and limited rainfall. D. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
