Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 456 PM EDT Thu Jun 25 2015 Valid 00Z Fri Jun 26 2015 - 00Z Sun Jun 28 2015 ***Numerous showers and storms for the Midwest and Ohio Valley*** ***Building heat over interior areas of the West*** A wavy frontal boundary situated from the central Plains to the East Coast will be the focus of several rounds of bad weather as surface low pressure areas form along it. Multiple complexes of thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to develop and track eastward from Iowa to the Ohio Valley and eventually towards the East Coast. Flash flooding is possible in some areas where convection becomes persistent. More showers and storms are in the forecast for the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend. In the temperature department, expect temperatures to increase each day through the end of the week across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West. A building upper level ridge will result in increased subsidence and thus hot temperatures. Many areas will likely reach 100 degrees or greater by the end of the week for elevations under 4000 feet. Isolated thunderstorms may also develop over the western U.S. and produce dry lightning and limited rainfall. D. Hamrick Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
