Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 252 AM EDT Fri Jul 24 2015 Valid 12Z Fri Jul 24 2015 - 12Z Sun Jul 26 2015 ...Severe weather possible across Upper Midwest and central Plains... ...Heavy rain possible over portions of the central Plains and Florida... A cold front pushing across the central Plains and Upper Midwest will be the focus for showers and thunderstorms today. A warm and humid airmass in place ahead of the front will support the development of strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Heavy rainfall is possible across portions of Iowa and northern Missouri. The front will settle across the central Plains and return as a warm front by Saturday. The threat for severe weather will remain across the central Plains in vicinity of the warm front and heavy rainfall will also be possible. A cold front will push slowly across the Southeast and become stationary along the Gulf Coast by this evening. A very moist airmass in place across Florida combined with a weak, but nearly stationary upper level disturbance will support heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours.
