Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 356 PM EDT Sun Aug 09 2015 Valid 00Z Mon Aug 10 2015 - 00Z Wed Aug 12 2015 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Northern/Central Plains and parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley... A front over the Upper Great Lakes to the Central Plains will merge with a quasi-stationary front extending from the Southeast to the Middle Mississippi Valley then southwestward to the Southern High Plains by Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary from the Upper Great Lakes to Middle Missouri Valley through Monday morning. The quasi-stationary front has a wave of low pressure over the Middle Mississippi Valley that will move northeastward to far Eastern Ontario by Tuesday. The boundary will merge with the Upper Great Lakes front on Monday. The combined front will move eastward to the Northern/Central Appalachians and southward to the Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley by Tuesday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along the boundary from Western Ohio Valley/Middle Mississippi Valley to the Southern High Plains through Monday morning. As the complex front moves eastward, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary from Lower Great Lakes/Northern Appalachians to parts of the Southeast/Tennessee Valley on Monday evening. The showers and thunderstorms will advance eastward to the Northeast to the Southeast by Tuesday. Additionally, upper-level energy and moisture pooling along the Gulf Coast and the Southeast Coast will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms along parts of the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast through Monday. The showers and thunderstorms will subside to the southern tip of Florida by Monday evening into Tuesday. Meanwhile, monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies during the late afternoon and evening on Sunday and Monday. Upper-level energy rotating around an upper-level high over Texas will move from Arizona to Colorado overnight Monday producing an area of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies and Southern/Central High Plains Monday night into Tuesday morning. In addition, upper-level troughing over the West Coast will aid in producing scatter rain along parts of the Northwest Coast and showers and thunderstorms over part of the Northern Rockies and interior Pacific Northwest.
