Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 357 PM EDT Mon Aug 10 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Aug 11 2015 - 00Z Thu Aug 13 2015 ...Heavy rain expected for portions of the Southern High Plains... A front extending from the Lower Great Lakes to the Tennessee Valley then westward to Southern Plains will move eastward to the East Coast and southward to near the Gulf Coast by Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary from the Lower Great Lakes/Northern Appalachians to parts of the Southeast/Tennessee Valley then move off most of the East Coast by Wednesday. The showers and thunderstorms will expand southward along the front into the Lower Mississippi Valley and the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast on Tuesday evening into Wednesday. Meanwhile, monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southwest/Great Basin and parts of the Southern/Central Rockies during the late afternoon and evening on Monday and Tuesday. In addition, upper-level energy rotating around an upper-level high over the Texas Panhandle will develop showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies and parts of the Southern/Central High Plains overnight Monday and Tuesday. Additionally, upper-level troughing over the West Coast will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California Monday and Tuesday evening.
