Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 340 AM EDT Sat Aug 15 2015 Valid 12Z Sat Aug 15 2015 - 12Z Mon Aug 17 2015 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Plains... A front over parts of the Northern High Plains into the Great Basin will move eastward to Upper Great Lakes to Central Plains then roughly westward to parts of the Great Basin by Sunday evening. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will intersect the boundary over the Northern Plains aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front over Northern/Central Plains that will move into the Upper Great Lakes to the Central High Plains by Sunday evening. In addition, upper-level energy over the Great Lakes will move southward to Ohio Valley while extending into parts of the Northeast by Saturday evening. The energy will interact with a pool of moisture that will aid in the development of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley to the Northeast on Saturday. Meanwhile, high moisture content air and upper-level impulses will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast and parts of the Southeast Coast through Sunday. Additionally, monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will produce afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central/Southern Rockies on Saturday and Sunday.
