Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 329 AM EDT Mon Aug 17 2015 Valid 12Z Mon Aug 17 2015 - 12Z Wed Aug 19 2015 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Central High Plains... ...Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average over parts of the Northern High Plains into the Central Plains... A front extending from the Upper Great Lakes to the Central Plains will be quasi-stationary from the Great Lakes to part of the Middle Mississippi Valley through Tuesday. A wave of low pressure will develop along the boundary over the Central High Plains on Monday night and move northeastward to parts of the Middle Missouri Valley by Tuesday evening. The associated front will sweep eastward and southward to the Middle Mississippi Valley/Central Plains to the Southern High Plains by Tuesday. Moisture will pool along the boundary aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms from the Great Lakes southwestward to the Southern High Plains also through Tuesday. In addition, moisture moving northward from the Gulf of Mexico will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms from parts of the Western Gulf Coast eastward to the Southeast and northward into the Tennessee Valley to the Central Appalachians on Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, upper-level energy swinging southeastward from Western Coast of Canada to the Northern/Central Plains by Tuesday evening. The energy will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Plains and expand into parts of the Northern/Central Plains by Monday evening. The precipitation will remain over parts of the region through Tuesday evening. Additionally, weak monsoonal moisture will aid in developing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern Rockies and Southern High Plains on Monday and Tuesday afternoon and evening.
