Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 321 AM EDT Thu Aug 27 2015 Valid 12Z Thu Aug 27 2015 - 12Z Sat Aug 29 2015 ...Flash flooding possible across portions of the central plains and Midwest... ...Showers expected for portions of the Pacific Northwest on Friday... A low pressure system will move across the central plains and into the Midwest over the next couple days. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected in association with this system, especially along and north of the warm front. Heavy rain and flash flooding are possible in association with this system today and Friday across portions of the central plains and Midwest. Rainfall amounts are forecast to exceed 3 inches in some areas. A stationary frontal boundary will linger along the southeastern U.S coastline and into the Gulf of Mexico through the next couple days. Showers and thunderstorms are possible generally south and east of this frontal boundary. The most numerous showers and thunderstorms should be across the Florida Peninsula each day during the afternoon and early evening hours. While conditions will remain warm and dry across the northwestern U.S. today -- a chance of some showers will begin to move into portions of the region by early Friday as moisture begins to stream onshore ahead of a Pacific frontal system. Through Friday evening, the showers will be primarily confined to the western half of Washington and Oregon, with eastern portions of those states remaining dry.
