In general, the eastern half of the U.S. will be fairly inactive as a ridge of high pressure remains in place. A few locations may have scattered shower and thunderstorms develop this evening through Wednesday evening. Portions of coastal Texas and the Southeast will have scattered to widespread areas of thunderstorm activity as remnants of Erika pass through. Heavy rain and flash flooding may be possible for western Florida and eastern Carolinas. The Pacific Northwest and the Northern Plains will remain in an active pattern as an upper-level trough sends a series of disturbances through the Intermountain West. The current frontal system will continue to move through the Central and Northern Plains this evening and into Tuesday. A cold front will generate along the Northern Rockies with a warm front lifting over the Canadian Prairies on Wednesday as a wave fires across the front range. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible with these systems through Wednesday evening. The persistent onshore flow off the Pacific will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Pacific Northwest as well. Temperatures have lowered significantly with this upper-level trough pattern. Rain and snow showers may be possible for areas of higher terrain in British Columbia; mainly in the early morning hours. In addition, monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies and parts of the Great Basin/Southwest on Monday and Tuesday.
