Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 410 PM EDT Mon Sep 14 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Sep 15 2015 - 00Z Thu Sep 17 2015 ***Dry and pleasant for the eastern half of the nation*** ***Scattered showers and storms for the Gulf Coast*** ***Unsettled weather from the West Coast to the Rockies*** Weather conditions across the eastern half of the U.S. will be uneventful through the middle of the week as a large area of high pressure remains parked over the region. After a rather cool and autumn-like start to the work week with a pristine airmass in place, temperatures are forecast to gradually moderate through Wednesday with highs returning to the 80s from the Ohio Valley to the Gulf Coast and eastward to the Mid-Atlantic. With the exception of a few showers over parts of New England, expect sunny to partly cloudy skies to be quite commonplace. Across the Gulf Coast region and Florida, the atmosphere will be more humid and the presence of a stalled frontal boundary over Florida will keep moisture around for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop each afternoon. The best coverage will be for central and southern Florida. For the western U.S. an upper level trough along with multiple shortwave impulses will spark the development of numerous showers and occasional thunderstorms across much of the Intermountain West and over the Rocky Mountains through Tuesday.
