Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 139 AM EDT Fri Sep 25 2015 Valid 12Z Fri Sep 25 2015 - 12Z Sun Sep 27 2015 ...Heavy rain for parts of the Southern Mid-Atlantic... ...Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees above normal over parts of the central Great Basin, Northern/Central Rockies, and Northern High Plains... An upper-level low over the Southeast will slowly move westward across the Tennessee Valley and lower Mississippi Valley. Moisture streaming inland off the Atlantic over the Southeast and Southern Mid-Atlantic will aid in producing rain that will expand westward into parts of the Central/Southern Appalachians and the Southern Ohio and Tennessee Valleys by Saturday. Locally heavy rain is expected over portions of North Carolina and southern Virginia. Showers and thunderstorms will also develop over Florida and the Eastern Gulf Coast. In addition, onshore flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Western Gulf Coast through Sunday. Shower coverage may increase along the central and east Gulf coast on Sunday as low pressure develops over the open central Gulf of Mexico. Upper-level energy over the Central Plains will slowly drift southwestward to the Southern Plains by Saturday morning. Moisture will be pooling around the disturbance aiding in the development of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central Plains through Friday afternoon.
