Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 1253 AM EDT Sat Sep 26 2015 Valid 12Z Sat Sep 26 2015 - 12Z Mon Sep 28 2015 ...Coverage of showers and thunderstorms gradually increases over the Gulf coast this weekend... ...Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees above normal over parts of the central Great Basin, Northern/Central Rockies, and Northern Plains... Moisture streaming inland off the Atlantic, combined with a westward drifting upper-level low, will keep much of the Mid-Atlantic to central Appalachians wet over the next few days. Showers will extend into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms will also develop over Florida and the Gulf Coast. Onshore flow off the Western Gulf of Mexico will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Western Gulf Coast through Sunday. Developing lows over the Gulf of Mexico this weekend may increase the shower and thunderstorm activity. A cold front will slowly track east through the Intermountain West and Northern Plains over the next couple of days. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible along and ahead of the front; however rainfall amounts are forecast to remain on the light side. The cold front will help moderate temperatures back towards normal after the warm conditions of Saturday. The primary area of below normal temperatures will be the cloudy areas of the mid Atlantic.
