Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 134 AM EDT Sun Sep 27 2015 Valid 12Z Sun Sep 27 2015 - 12Z Tue Sep 29 2015 ...Coverage of showers and thunderstorms gradually increases over the Gulf coast Sunday into Monday... ...Temperatures Sunday will be 15 to 20 degrees above normal over parts of the central Great Basin, Central Rockies, and Upper Mississippi Valley... The Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida will have showers and thunderstorms as a couple of areas of low pressure develop over the Gulf of Mexico. The exact position of these surface lows remain uncertain, but the lows will promote showers in coastal areas of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Locally heavy downpours are possible. A cold front will slowly track through the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley, as well as the central Plains and Rockies over the next couple of days. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible along and ahead of the front; however rainfall amounts are forecast to remain on the light side. The cold front will help moderate temperatures back towards normal. On Monday the warm core moves into the Great Lakes, south central Plains, and much of the central to southern Great Basin, where temperatures will commonly be 10-15 degrees above normal. The primary area of below normal temperatures will be the cloudy areas of the Mid-Atlantic. Portions of the Mid-Atlantic and central Appalachians will remain overcast and showery on Sunday as a moist airmass persists in streaming inland. On Monday the coverage of showers will gradually diminish. Petersen Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
