Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 344 PM EDT Mon Sep 28 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Sep 29 2015 - 00Z Thu Oct 01 2015 ...Heavy rain possible from the Central Appalachians to Northern New England... A front extending from the Upper Great Lakes to the Central Rockies will move southeastward to Northern New England Coast to the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Southern High Plains by Wednesday. Moisture pooling a long the boundary will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms from parts of the Central Rockies to parts of the Upper Great Lakes through Monday evening. Rain will develop along the boundary from the Great Lakes to the Central Plains through Tuesday morning. As the front continues to move eastward, showers and thunderstorms develop from parts of New England to parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley that will move to the Northeast to the Tennessee Valley by Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, an upper-level low over Eastern Texas/Lower Mississippi Valley will slowly weaken and lift northeastward intersecting the aforementioned front over parts of the Lower Great Lakes/Central Appalachians by Wednesday. Circulation around the upper-level low will stream moisture northward off the Gulf of Mexico over the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast into parts of the Southern Ohio Valley/Mid-Atlantic through Wednesday morning. The energy and the moisture will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms from the Central Gulf Coast to the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic/Tennessee Valley on Monday evening into Wednesday morning.
