Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 411 PM EDT Sat Oct 03 2015 Valid 00Z Sun Oct 04 2015 - 00Z Tue Oct 06 2015 ...Heavy rain possible for parts of the Southeast and the Southern Appalachians... An upper-level low over the Southeast will slowly move eastward to the Southeast Coast by Monday. Circulation around the upper-low will stream moisture into the Southeast that will aid in producing rain with embedded thunderstorms over the region through Monday morning. The rain will extend as far westward to the Tennessee Valley that will taper off by Sunday evening. In addition, high pressure over Eastern Canada will slowly weaken by Monday. Similarly, circulation around the high will also streamed moisture into Southern New England to the Southern Mid-Atlantic that will decrease in intensity by Monday morning. Rain will develop over parts of the Great Lakes to Southern New England that will taper off west to east by Sunday evening. Additionally, rain will develop over Mid-Atlantic westward to parts of the Ohio Valley that will decrease to the Southern Mid-Atlantic by Monday. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over the Northern High Plains will slowly lift northeastward into Southern Canada by Monday morning. The energy will aid in producing rain over parts of the Northern Rockies/High Plains to parts of the Northern Plains on Saturday evening that will slowly come to an end by Monday. Furthermore, another upper-level low over the Pacific Northwest will move southward to Southern California by Monday morning. Moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will stream northward over the High Plains. By Sunday morning moisture from the Gulf of California will flow into the western third of the country. The energy and moisture will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of California eastward to the Central/Southern High Plains through Monday.
