Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 311 PM EDT Sun Oct 04 2015 Valid 00Z Mon Oct 05 2015 - 00Z Wed Oct 07 2015 ...Heavy rain possible for parts of the Carolinas... An upper-level low over the Southeast will slowly lift northeastward to off the Carolina Coast by Tuesday. Circulation around the upper low will stream a plume of very moist air into the Carolinas that will slowly decrease by Tuesday. Rain will develop over parts of the Mid-Atlantic southward to the Southeast, with a few embedded thunderstorms over the Southeast on Sunday evening. The rain will gradually wane to parts of the Carolina and Southeast Coast by Tuesday as the upper-low pulls away. Another upper-level low over Southern California will slowly start to weaken while moving into parts of the Southwest by Tuesday morning. Flow around the low will pull moisture off the Gulf of California into the Southwestern quarter of the country. The moisture and upper-level energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms from parts of Southern/Central California eastward to the Central/Southern High Plains on Sunday evening. The showers and thunderstorms will come to an end over parts of California by Tuesday morning, while continuing over the rest of the area. Elsewhere, upper-level energy over the Northern Plains and Great Lakes will produce rain over parts of those areas through Monday morning.
