Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 341 PM EDT Mon Oct 05 2015 Valid 00Z Tue Oct 06 2015 - 00Z Thu Oct 08 2015 ...Flash flooding possible over eastern portions of the Carolinas through this evening... ...Flash flooding possible across portions of the Four Corners region through Tuesday... Rain will begin to gradually taper off across North and South Carolina tonight as the low pressure system off the Southeast U.S. coastline begins to move away. Scattered showers may linger along the coast into Tuesday. Flash flooding will still be possible through this evening, before the heavier rains come to an end. An upper-level low moving across the southwestern U.S. will bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to much of the Four Corners region and parts of the Rockies through Tuesday. Locally heavy rain is possible, and flash flooding may pose a threat for some areas. The upper-level low will move east on Wednesday, bringing showers and thunderstorms into the southern High Plains. Meanwhile, a surface low pressure system will develop across the northern plains on Wednesday as an upper-level disturbance interacts with a surface front lingering in the lee of the Rockies. This low pressure system will bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms from the northern plains into the Upper Midwest on Wednesday. High pressure will dominate the weather pattern across most of the eastern third of the contiguous U.S. through Wednesday, keeping conditions dry and pleasant, with temperatures averaging about 5 degrees above average.
