Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 344 AM EDT Fri Oct 09 2015 Valid 12Z Fri Oct 09 2015 - 12Z Sun Oct 11 2015 ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Pacific Northwest... ...Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees above average from parts of the Northern High Plains to parts of the Great Basin... A front extending from the Lower Great Lakes to parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley to parts of the Southern High Plains will move southeastward off the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast by Saturday morning. A wave of low pressure will develop over the Southeast holding the boundary back over the area through Saturday evening. The system will produce rain over parts of the Lower Great Lakes to the Northeast through Friday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front from parts of the Ohio Valley to the Southern Plains that will move off the Mid-Atlantic Coast by Friday night. Showers and thunderstorms will also move into the Southeast/Central Gulf Coast by Friday evening and linger over the Southeast through Saturday evening. Meanwhile, moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will stream into parts of the Southern High Plains through Saturday morning. In addition, an upper-level low over Northwestern Mexico will slowly move westward off the coast of Baja Peninsula by Saturday. The energy and moisture will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern High Plain/Southern Rockies that will retreat westward to parts of the Southern Rockies/Southwest by Saturday evening. Elsewhere, moisture pooling along the Pacific Northwest Coast will aid in producing rain over parts of the Northwest Coast on Friday into Saturday morning. On Saturday, a front over the Eastern Pacific will begin to move onshore over the Pacific Northwest by Saturday evening. The boundary will aid in continuing the rain along the Northwest Coast and move inland to parts of the Northern Rockies by Saturday evening.
